      Beans contain sugars (oligosaccharides) and fibre that our body finds difficult to digest. We don’t produce the enzyme, alpha-galactosidase, that can break down these oligosaccharides, but thankfully we have bacteria in our intestines that can! The bacteria break down the oligosaccharides, but in doing so, produce gas too. This gas eventually has to pass out of our bodies…
