For me science is all about practical applications. Why science fairs are so popular? Because you can see science in action. You can talk to people living it and learn about what inspired them to do what they do, what choices did they make to land them in their jobs. I remember when I went to school my main moan was that there were not enough experiments, not enough practical examples. We didn’t go on a single trip to a research institute, there were no science fairs and I didn’t have an opportunity to hear from the scientists themselves what are the options after studying Physics and Chemistry. I thought that you can only teach in school. If I knew you can work in NASA or CERN, well… my choices might have been different.
I hope this answers your questions 🙂
