There are advantages and disadvantages for animals that glow in the dark. Some animals use glowing in the dark (or bioluminescence) to find their way around in the depths of the ocean but this can also attract potential predators. Some predators, such as the angler fish, use bioluminescence to attract prey by swimming around with glow in the dark lures.

However, there has been evidence that animals that glow in the dark actually repel predators. Glow worms which are found in South America glow at various times of the day but it was found that toads would avoid these glowing animals and eat other prey. Pretty cool!
