Hi Lottie, I’m not sure if I have really ‘discovered’ anything interesting yet but I do think I have put forward a few interesting ideas. I have, for examples, looked at what language we use on Twitter of Facebook and how that language is different from the language we use when we speak to our friends or when we write an essay. Then I have thought about whether it is important to teach this sort of ‘social media’ language to language students and I have discussed this with many teachers and students to find out what they think. Through this research, I think I have ‘discovered’ or argued the language we use on Twitter or Facebook is very different from the language we use otherwise, and we definitely should teach our students about it. This is one example of my more recent research. Do you think that this is something interesting I have discovered? Over to you to judge 🙂

PrimeGrid, which I work on the software for, discovered the largest known pair of twin primes – two numbers which are prime and differ by 2. They have 200,700 digits each. That’s quite interesting!
