      Yes, they can! Bacteria can get infected by viruses too. In fact, many bacteria have a defence mechanism whereby they make enzymes to cut up DNA that belongs to the invading virus. By chopping up the virus DNA, it prevents the virus from replicating and causing harm to the bacteria.
