Some insects are but mosquitoes actually have a cool way of avoiding drowning/dying when hit by rain. Rather than being knocked out the sky by the rain the moqsuito joins with the rain and absorbs very little of its energy. These then hurtle towards the ground but the mosquito is covered in tiny water repllent hairs which allow it to escape the rain drop and carry on flying.
