That’s a difficult question! As I am carrying out lab-based research (instead of computational research), my costs tend to be much higher as I need to pay for lab consumables, like enzymes, media, buffers, antibodies….and the list goes on..! Researchers who work more with computational models often don’t require as much money for their research.
True, but we need to pay people to develop the software, and the running costs of hardware (electricity), can quickly become very large too! Ideally, if I had enough to pay for myself and a team of around 4 researchers/software engineers I would be totally content!
