There are so many i think you would get tired reading the list. Even in my department everyone is working in such a small area that there would be loads of types. I’m a behavioural ecologist but the girl who sits behind me is a disease epidemiologist (studying plague) and the girl who sits opposite me is a geneticist. Everyone specialises so much that you end up in your own field. So if you want to get into science you could do anything!
I agree with Rebecca, once you get into science the labels/names we give each other stop making much sense. In fact now a lot of science is what we call ‘interdisciplinary’ which means it mixes in skills and knowledge from different scientific fields (or disciplines). Rather than asking ‘what kind of scientist are you’ now I tend to ask people ‘what are you working on’?
